Description:
We drive up to the small charming village of Maiolati Spontini which is approximately 400 msl and was once the home of the composer Gasparo Spontini (1774-1851) and he is buried in the church of San Giovanni, under an august neo-classical monument carved by the great Canova. Due to the high elevation of the village, views over the valley below are uninterrupted and long and they stretch all the way to the Adriatic coastline.
We park just a short walk away from the gates of the property and walk up the impressive driveway. The mature gardens are on either side of the driveway, approximately 3100 sqm of wood and lawn and hidden within the gardens is an outside bread oven. The villa makes an imposing impression at the end of the driveway and before the villa we reach the turning circle with the centre piece being a stone fountain.
We enter the property through a temporary conservatory and on the ground level of the villa, we find two large rooms, one fitted out with a kitchen area and open fireplace. The first floor of the villa has a large sitting room with original ceiling roses and access to the balcony which over looks the driveway and an open fireplace. There are four bedrooms on this level and as it was last used as a hotel, all the rooms have an ensuite bathroom.
The next two levels of the villa have the same layout and consist again of four bedrooms with bathrooms and on the fourth floor there is predispositioning for a sauna room. The fifth floor of the villa has been divided into two self containted apartments and access to the roof terrace can be gained from this level and from here one can appreciate the views from the elvetated position on the villa all the way to the Adriatic coastline.
