The ancient farmhouse, which is at the heart of a small, private estate, has been faithfully restored and enlarged, using old materials, but without losing sight of the fact that this is the 21st century. In the main house, there are four sizable bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The ground floor, which would have originally housed animals, now has a lovely sitting room, with original fireplace [moved from the first floor], large dining room and exceptional kitchen. This was a real indulgence and is a genuine 'commercial' kitchen, for which most chefs would happily sharpen their knives. All stainless steel, there is a powerful stove with oven, open burners and griddle, below an extraction canopy. A centre counter work surface also houses all the refrigeration drawers [the remote compressor is in the cellar to avoid noise]. Against the opposite wall is another run of steel countering, including a marble slab for pastry work.
The cellar has two rooms, the first is for storage, but also contains commercial upright 'fridge and separate freezer [also with remote compressor]. The second room is the laundry, but also has an ice maker, which is as indispensable in the summer, as the under floor heating is in the winter. Water is brought from a private well to a softening and treatment system, which is said to produce water of a better quality than that available in supermarkets. An external door leads outside to a barbecue area and then on to the extensive pool area.
For al fresco moments there are two terraces adjoining the house, on different sides, to make the most of either the sun or shade. The kitchen terrace is perfect for an early cappuccino or a late aperitif, but the portico, which is largely covered, is ideal at any time, in any season.
Separate [by a few meters], is the Granaio, which was once a pigsty, but is now a delightfully romantic studio, with bed platform above the sitting room, shower room and fully equipped kitchen.
The property benefits from a well-planned landscaped garden of around one acre, and a large private swimming pool.
